Interview Advice

Interview

ExpertRads radiographer recruitment agency is renowned for supplying quality human potential imaging departments in health facilities across the UK. We owe it to the rigorous interview and evaluation process we follow in checking that candidate is compliant with the UK laws at the workplace.

We take into consideration the fact that it is increasingly becoming competitive for qualified radiographers in UK’s healthcare and our agency is bent upon shaping your skills to equip you with global standards.

We mandate an interview with us, as it will be an opportunity to critically assess your competence, qualifications and relevant documents, additional skills, communication and overall fit, in person.

We also get to know your past experience, work history, accolades received, desired job profile and responsibilities and decide where you will do better. This will not only give an edge to your performance in the immediate interviews but prepares you for future meetings with solid ground.

You’ll also appreciate the industry standards, latest regulations in the UK, what a radiographer is expected to deliver for his recruiters and insides of the field through us. A candidate is expected to book an appointment with us for an interview prior to attending one.

Depending upon what you’re looking for, you will be tested on various parameters using different techniques and you should be fully prepared for the same. For example, we’ll conduct practical tests to see how you deal with imaging equipment.

It’s not surprising that our candidates are delivering services in reputed hospitals.

CV Advice

A CV (Curriculum Vitae) is a crucial document before applying for a radiographer position with our clients. It is the document that gives the first impression about you to the client.  Thus, it should be flawless and free from any errors at the same time providing comprehensive details.

ExpertRads provides all the advice you’ll need for drafting an impressive yet precise CV that is an outcome of decades of experience in recruiting and supplying staff to the most prominent hospitals and diagnostic centres in the UK. We know what exactly clients expect from a CV.

If you’re applying for locum roles, we recommend you keeping personal details to the minimum and highlighting your professional track record and qualifications. However, if you’re interested in permanent roles, you can include more background information about yourself.

If we find that the CV we received is not in the standard format we’ll amend it for you and our only advice is to keep all the relevant information in the document. Alternatively, you can download the CV template we provide here.

We recommend no more than two pages for the document. Ensure that information is concise and accurate. Mention dates, qualifications and work experience clearly as department heads process many documents within less time and they focus mainly on spotting required qualifications suitable for them.

Interview Advice

We recommend rigorous preparation for attending an interview with us as well as clients once you get an offer. Presently, interviews are not common for recruiting locum staff in the UK. However, clients are asking for a telephonic conversation before deciding on the candidature.

If you’re applying for a permanent role, then this section is most relevant for you as you will be asked to attend multiple face-to-face interview sessions in the client’s location. We use our extensive experience to guide you through this step.

You’ll learn and internalize interview techniques, body language, etiquette and relevant attire that interviewers will be keen on noticing.

What To Do Before

  1. Be prepared. As a first step, research the potential organization before applying. Check out their website, talk to colleagues and friends about them – be as thorough in your due diligence here because you’ll want this job for more than just one day!
  2. Research the people who will be interviewing you and their credentials. You should know this information when you walk into an interview room.
  3. We want you to get a good understanding of the job description and are willing to provide as much information. Read thoroughly so that there can be no confusion about what is expected from your application!
  4. Keep in touch with the latest legislation relevant to the industry
  5. What is going on in the news regarding the radiography and allied fields recently? It will be highly noticed if you convey your interest in the latest developments to your interviewers.
  6. Research, prepare your own answers for standard questions about yourself and your career. Not just preparation, ensure you’ll answer using standardized language and manners.
  7. If you’re worried that they will have concerns about your CV, prepare an answer in advance. Be it about a career break or lack of sufficient practice with some aspects of your field.
  8. Get to know about the exact interview venue and room beforehand. Make room for reaching the interview venue once you reach the hospital/clinic. If the hospital you have to reach is a vast campus with many departments, you might waste time going here and there.
  9. Follow the accepted, professional etiquette for dressing and attire. You might not want to use overpowering perfumes.
  10. Keep an extra copy of your CV in case the interviewers lose it or need more copies. The same follows for the remaining documents you might have to produce.

At The Interview

  1. First and foremost. We recommend you prepare beforehand to arrive at the interview venue early. Allow at least one or two hours so that you get comfortable with the environment out there. It also allows you to settle within and boosts your positive energy.
  2. Be on time. This is the first impression your interviewers will notice about you. But don’t worry if you, for some valid reason, fail to reach the venue on time. Give a valid explanation or call to the interviewers explaining your late arrival to manage their expectations. You can also reach us instead of interviewers and we will take care of contacting them to help you have a hassle-free journey.
  3. When you walk in, introduce yourself to the receptionist and ask about where you need to be.
  4. Show the interviewer that you’re confident by shaking their hand firmly and looking them into the eye. Thanking them for taking time out of their busy day during the first meet can go a long way!
  5. Listen more. Pay attention to the question interviewers ask. If you’re unable to catch it the first time, be open and polite to request a repeat of the question.
  6. You have a chance to shine. So, be confident. Demonstrate why you’re the best candidate and make it easy for them to choose your worth.
  7. Be aware that interviewers check more than your qualifications and competence. They also make sure you fit in well with the rest of the department and employees.
  8. Your interviewer needs to impress you as much as you need to impress him/her.
  9. Prepare some questions regarding their hospital or services to ask them at the end of the interview.
  10. Call us after your interview to let us know how it went and if you would be interested in continuing the application process.

After The Interview

  1. Send a follow-up email to thank them for their time and wish them a great day. It is a practice to send a thank you card afterwards as it shows appreciation and leaves a lasting impression on your interviewers.
  2. Please note that your CV will be submitted to the hospital HR department along with an assessment email from us.
  3. After the interview, take the time to reflect on it.
  4. Prepare notes of the questions asked and your responses.
  5. The second interview is a little more intense than the first. You might be asked to answer some of those same questions again, so make sure and do your best!
  6. Talking about the feedback you might receive from an interview, it’s important to think of this information as a tool for future interviews. Use any comments given and use them constructively when preparing for your next meeting!
